Sushi! If we get chicken yakisoba my oldest will eat the plain noodles and chunks of chicken.

I usually save my takeout for the nights I don't have my kids because the fancy pizza place "doesn't taste like domino's" and the amazing asian/italian mashup spot is all too spicy. that said, my eldest adores General Tso's chicken, and campaigns regularly for chinese. I have a hard time getting something that doesn't feel super heavy there, so keep trying different veg/protein combos because hope springs eternal. my younger then limps along with gyoza. if the younger chooses, he'll only go to the places that sell the restaurant equivalent of boxed mac'n'cheese...

Because we live in a rural area, it's a major schlep to get take-out, and we can't get anything delivered. *sigh We've only gotten one take/bake pizza since the pandemic started. I miss gooey / spicy Mexican takeout and the best-ever hummus and chicken shawarma at a Lebanese place at the bottom of our canyon. The ambiance is not great there, but the food is exceptional, so we've always gotten takeout there.

We have a Peruvian place that we get lunch from a couple times a month. The kids will eat my salad if I didn’t get them one but if I get them their own it goes wasted.

Mexican, which isn’t super yummy as takeout but the kids like the nachos and hibiscus tea.

Chinese food. I still haven’t found my “go to” but the kids like sweet and sour chicken and will drink the egg drop soup happily.

Pizza or some sort of Asian food. Currently on my list are more soup dumplings as I learned about some new to us places in the area and want to try them!

Picky eaters here too: pizza or burgers or fish and chips for the kids (we've been on Cape for months and eating from clam shacks), but I get fish tacos, scallop quesadillas, steamed clams or a lobster roll. Not sure what we'll be eating when we get back to the city in the fall.

those are great ideas on how to make the foods I love "plainer" for picky kids! My kids love orange chicken so I usually go for some version of Asian food.
