Our teen is 15.5. I truly think some kids just handle screens better than others. After Xmas we removed the limits. It’s been a pretty big fail honestly. He would do that 24 hours a day if I didn’t constantly tell him to knock it off. As it is he’s up to like 12 hours a day and this week we’ve yet again had the “I’m going to put the controls back on” talk. He can drive a car but absolutely cannot manage screens! (And yes, we’ve even tried outside help.) so, I say if you think your kid cannot do it, just carry on. My other two children perfectly well understand and manage limits without so much bossing.
Ugh, I'm pretty sure that's where we're heading. Maybe we'll do some kind of trial period, where he gets unlimited for July and if it goes poorly we'll re-institute structure.
